The right substrate for aquariums is very important. Especially for Tadpole Shrimp it is important to no use aquarium gravel with too large of a grain size because the Triops are otherwise not able to dig in and bury their Triops-eggs there. A substrate is, for example for Fairy Shrimp, not always a necessity but it always has a filtering effect. Thus, the water in the aquarium remains clean and the water quality increases. There is not one best substrate one should use but you must choose the ground always in consideration of the Tadpole Shrimp living in the aquarium. Colored aquarium gravel enhances the aquarium optically and can turn it into a real gem. Since each type of Tadpole Shrimp places different demands on the substrate such as gravel or aquarium sand, we from Triops King provide a variety to choose from in our assortment.
