Triops Cancriformis Spain find their origin, as the name suggests, in Spain.
The carapace of the greater cancris is mackerel, similar to other Cancriformis species. But in contrast to Cancriformis Germany, where the carapace is more black, or Cancriformis Mallorca, where it is more brown, this Triops species has a very large carapace. In the light it is a really beautiful shiny green.
After about 48-72 hours the first Triops nauplii hatch.
There are females and males in this species. You can easily recognise the females by the two egg sacs on the left and right under the shell. The males have no egg cases.
They are fully grown after about 8 weeks. Then their size is usually 5-7 cm including the fork of the tail.
They need temperatures between 22 and 24°C and with loving care you can enjoy your Cancriformis for 90 - 120 days.
